CrowdGrader Documentation

How CrowdGrader works

The instructors creates assignments, either specifying the class list, or sharing with the students a self-enroll URL. Students can work individually or in groups, and submit their solutions to the assignment. CrowdGrader includes a powerful editor that lets instructors and students write reports, math, code, and more; students can also submit any file type (including zip files) for review.

Once the submission phase is over, students are asked to review a certain number (usually, 5) of submissions by other students.  If students have doubts while grading, they can discuss the submissions in anonymous message forums, for example asking clarifying questions to the submission authors.

The instructor can easily monitor the entire submission and review phases.  Once the review phase is over, CrowdGrader combines the reviewer grades into a single grade for each submission, eliminating outliers.  CrowdGrader then computes for each student an overall crowd-grade that combines:

Thus, students have an incentive to be accurate in their grades, and helpful in their reviews.  The instructor can use the crowd-grades as final grades, or as a starting point to assign final grades: the instructor is always in full control.
