Removing DC rows

Suppose that you made a sweater from the bottom up, and now when you sew it together, your sleeves are too long. You don't have to live with it-remove some rows from the bottom.

To do this, you will need some yarn that matches your piece, a crochet hook that is small enough to go through the bottom 2 loops of the dc's without splitting the yarn. You will also need a tapestry needle and scissors.

Here is a sample swatch with 8 rows of dc. We are going to remove the bottom 3 rows.

Turn your piece upside down and have the wrong side facing for the last row you want to keep (in this case, the 4th row from the bottom). We are adding a foundation chain to that row prior to unraveling the rows before.

1-Using your smaller hook, insert it through the bottom 2 bars of the dc at the end of the row and draw up a loop:

2-Yarn over hook and draw up another loop:

3-Insert your hook into the 2 bars of the next st and draw up a lp as shown. Keep your tension loose to match the piece (which was made with a larger hook).

4-Repeat step 2

5-Repeat steps 3 and 4 across row up to ch-3 at the end of the row. Insert the hook through 2 threads of the ch-3:

6- Yarn over hook and pull through to complete the foundation chain. End off.

7-Turn the piece right side up with the right side of the last row you want to remove facing up. Cut a stitch about 5 stitches from the end of the row.

8-Use your tapestry needle to unravel row 3. You're done!
