  • Arrest Warrant

This type of warrant authorizes the police to arrest you on site. The judge is the issuer of an arrest warrant. You could have an arrest warrant issued for you for many reasons. A valid arrest warra

nt only may be issued if a judge believes there is probable cause for arrest. They also must be issued based upon a police affidavit.

One of the most common reasons is simply failure to appear in court. For that type of violation, the police may not even actively look for you. Instead, if you are stopped for a traffic violation, they will run your name and see if there are any warrants out for you. In that situation, you could be detained on an arrest warrant. Other types of arrest warrants are more serious, and the police will actively look for you.

You can be prosecuted under state and federal law for the crime. Usually, the agency that arrests you will determine if it will be charged as a state or federal crime.

If it is charged at the federal leve

l, you could receive up to one year in prison and at least $1000 in fines. Under federal law, anabolic steroids are a schedule III controlled substance.

If you are convicted of a second offense at the federal level, you can be put in prison for a minimum of 15 days and up to two years. The minimum fine is $2500. A third offense will put you in jail for 90 days up to three years, and a minimum fine of $5000.

Nobody should face the criminal justice system alone. Always consult with a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction (see also...Houston Law Firms).
