Adam's Wife Was Created From His Body
After the creation of Adam (peace be upon him) from the earth’s soil, Allah (Jalla Jalaluhu) mentioned in the Quran that He created a female human to be Adam’s wife. Unlike Adam (peace be upon him), she was not created from the earth’s soil; rather, she was created from one of Adam’s body parts: “O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever an All-Watcher over you” (Quran 4: 1). Allah (Jalla Jalaluhu) did not mention the name of this body part in the Quran, but the Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu alay-hi wa-sallam) told his companions that it was one of Adam’s ribs. Again, no earthly scientific explanation can be given here to explain how such a creation process took place because it occurred by Allah’s power: “Verily! Our Word unto a thing when we intend it, is only that We say unto it: Be! and it is” (Quran 16: 40). With the creation of Adam’s wife, sexual reproduction became possible in mankind, and consequently Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife were able to produce male and female children.
Adam (Peace be Upon Him) and His Wife Were not Naked
In the Quran, Allah (Jalla Jalaluhu) mentioned that Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife were not naked. In one verse we read that Adam (peace be upon him) was promised that he will never be naked in the Paradise: "Verily, you have (a promise from Us) that you will never be hungry therein nor naked" (Quran 20: 118). In another verse we know that both Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife were wearing clothes and Satan deceived them and caused their clothes to be stripped: "O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe" (Quran 7: 27). In a third verse of the Quran we know that Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife covered their bodies immediately, using plant leaves, right after eating from the tree as a result of Satan's deception: “…and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of the Paradise for their covering…” (Quran 20: 121). Based on the above-mentioned verses of the Quran we know that Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife were neither naked in the Paradise, nor on earth. Additionally, Allah (Jalla Jalaluhu) ordered the children of Adam (mankind) to cover their bodies and not to be naked: “O Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover yourselves (screen your private parts) and as an adornment; and the raiment of righteousness, that is better” (Quran 7: 26).
After talking about the creation of Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife now it is the time to talk about the creation of their children. GO TO NEXT PAGE.
