•Fate of Chemicals in Wastewater

My mian research interests are focusing on the fate of chemicals in Chinese wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs):

1) Designing the novel passive sampler for organic chemicals in wastewater treatment system;

2) Investigating the occurrence of chemicals in Chinese WWTPs and their environmental fate;

3) Evaluating the effectiveness of processes and efficiency for daily use chemicals;

4) Studying the removal of priority substances through the sewage treatment process in China;

5) Modeling the fate and behaviors of chemicals in WWTPs;

6) Assessing the environmental/health risk of chemicals in wastewater and biosolids and assessing the risk/impact of agricultural use or other use.

•Environmental Geochemistry of Persistent Toxic Substances

Environmental geochemistry of persistent toxic substances (PTS), especially on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and heavy metals, including:

1) Environmental fate and behavior of POPs and heavy metals in different matrixes;

2) Sorption, degradation, bioavailability of POPs and heavy metals;

3) Risk assessment of POPs and heavy metals;

4) Soil and groundwater remediation of POPs and heavy metals.

•Soil and Groundwater Contamination and Remediation

Soil and groundwater contamination is great challenge in China, which also interests me:

1) Designing the novel sampling method for soil and groundwater monitoring;

2) Source identify for groundwater contamination;

3) Combined effect on inorganic and organic contaminatants in soil and groundwater;

•Evidence of Climate Change

1) Case studies of climate change on region scale;

2) Environmental response in acid region on climate change;

3) Historical records on climate change (sediment, pollen, peatland, vegetation, and so on);

4) Isotopic evidence/ measurement of climate change.
