Things to Know about Citations
Using appropriate citations and quotation marks protects you from accusations of plagiarism.
Use citations when you
quote from someone else's work
use someone else's ideas or opinions
paraphrase or summarize someone else's work
You don't need to use citations when you
use well-known facts or common knowledge (unless you're using someone else's description)
state your own opinions or ideas
write your conclusion and include already-cited information
It's better to over-cite than under-cite.
Make your Works Cited page first so you don't forget the sources you've used.
Follow the correct format for in-text and Works Cited citations.
Double-check the generated citation and fill in the blanks if possible.
In a Works Cited page, include only works you cite in your paper or project.
In a Bibliography, include all works you consulted whether or not you cited them.
