Our Graduate School holds admission exam twice in a year for the admission in April. The first exam will be held in late August, and the second one in February. Details of the entrance examination are described at websites of Graduate School of Environmental Science. Please check them
Inquires about exam, laboratory, research work of faculty members and so on are accepted at any time.
The Course in Cryosphere Science consists of 14 faculty members from the Institute for Low Temperature Science, the Arctic Research Center, and the Research Institute for Human and Environmental Sciences. Nine of these faculty members are primarily responsible for this course. One feature of this course is that students select their supervisor before entrance and can begin specialized research activities immediately after entrance. Immediately after entrance, students can begin their master's research, including field surveys in Greenland, Daisetsuzan, Akkeshi, and other locations in Japan and abroad, laboratory analysis, and numerical simulations.

Fall Special Entrance Examination
Students who wish to apply for the Course in Cryosphere Science through the Fall Special Entrance Examination must decide on their desired supervisor. Contact them as early as possible within the deadlines specified in the Guidelines for Applicants to receive instructions regarding the assigned task, materials to submit on the examination day, and the content of the oral examination.
Students who could not decide on a desired supervisor at the Fall Entrance Examination, the Entrance Examination for October Admission, and the Spring Entrance Examination must decide on a supervisor as soon as possible after the admission results are announced, following the course director's instructions, and finalize it before the entrance. If it is absolutely impossible to decide on a supervisor at the entrance, it is also possible to find a suitable supervisor after gaining knowledge through lectures and seminars in various laboratories. In such cases, please decide on a supervisor within one month after entrance. Until then, the course director will serve as your temporary supervisor.
