The beginning of what is now, Community Presbyterian Church, was held in a tent,in the summer of 1919, in Industrial City(now part of St. Joseph,MO).
They held meeting's there during the summer months. After that they rented a store building. This became Community Presbyterian Church of , Industrial City. The first pastor was, Rev. James D. Walker. On April 13, 1921, the congregation was first organized.
The building at the corner of Savannah Rd. and Blackwell Rd was erected ,with they laying of the cornerstone, on October 22, 1922.
With the need for more space ,the Session voted to by 4 1/2 acres ,at 5409 St. Joseph Ave. In September 1961 Session voted to start construction on the new building. On November 12, 1967, the first service was held at the new church at ,5409 St. Joseph Ave. On July 28, 1996 , the church celebrated its 75th anniversary.
