Joe Dante and Allan Arkush's Rock n Roll High School depicted the Ramones' equivalent of Beatlemania among a bunch of teen movie cliches. There are some lame side-plots and transparent propaganda idealizing the Ramones for marketing purposes, but the absurdist humor and music sequences are appreciated. And, as expected, the Ramones are simply bad actors, hence why their characters are sparsely given any dialogue — but at least they still look cool.
Several scenes feature concert performances of the band, but they are almost all dubbed over with studio recordings; a missed opportunity to have professional footage of the band playing live.
Brain Drain contains mostly filler trash and some cringey hard rock imitations with the exception of Pet Semetary, an unusually gothic (though poppy nonetheless) lament.
