Blood on the Moon shows a sense of New Wave in the rhythms, but the signature "layered" sound of the band has been greatly dumbed down. Of course Helios Creed's flange and other guitar gimmicks are always a treat, but the rest of the music is underwhelming now that the industrial congestion has been scrapped.
Helios Creed's Planet X provides more spacey industrial rock with more of the Butthole Surfers' hillbilly psychedelia.
The tracks offer basic stimulation for a space-rock/noise-rock record, but it stalls on occasion with jams that simply last too long (Kurt Zombie) and only teases the truly interesting sounds (the slow but nonetheless funky reverse-echo chamber Plato's Cave).
Savage guitar fuzz is the album's main selling point. The programmed drums would probably benefit with some of the corrosive modulation seen in Chrome's earlier work -- fluctuating distortion, delay, reverb, or whatever -- just to make the beats less monotonous juxtaposed to the madness of Helios Creed's guitar and the trippy sampling/keyboards.
Damon Edge was discovered dead in his home in August 1995.
