EAGLES LEAD WATER POLO MOVEMENT

Eagles Water Polo team began in 2008. The Wheeler Wildcat Water Polo team wanted to donate their old goals and Coach Weaver graciously accepted. Assistant Swim Coach Porter and her husband Corey Porter traveled to the Cobb Aquatic Center to pick up everything. Shortly after this, our team was invited to come play at Dynamo to see what water polo was all about. Seven Collins Hill swimmers, Coach Weaver, and Coach Porter attended. The Eagles scored 1 goal! The swimmers and coaches were hooked on this fantastic sport and ready to learn more! Phong Nguyen, a CHHS Swimmer, Class of 2007, had experience playing water polo, and was gracious enough to coach (and teach!) the team during the Summer of 2008. After many grueling practices, the team was ready to attempt to play an actual game. We traveled to Georgia Tech to play with the Atlanta Trout Water Polo Team. This is where the Eagles met Coach Collins who was then recruited to help coach our team for the fall season. The Trout team donated some old blue and white caps and a few water polo balls and we were ready to go!

During our first season with Coach Collins and Coach Weaver the team went undefeated and took home the title of GHSWPA State Champions!
