ProLiteracy will begin accepting applications for National Book Fund grants
on February 1.
The National Book Fund supplies books and materials from ProLiteracy’s publishing division New Readers Press to adult literacy and basic education programs in need.
To be considered, applications must be submitted no later than March 15, 2023,
through ProLiteracy’s grant portal*. Grant announcements will be made by April 28, 2023.

Our Presenters
Ashly Winkle
Ashly is the Technology & Distance Learning Specialist for TCALL @ Texas A&M & Integrating Technology Moderator for LINCS. She is also a Journeyman 2 Technology Coach who started in adult education as a volunteer for the Literacy Council of Tyler in Tyler, Texas in 2013In August of 2020, Ashly started her position with Texas Center For Advancement in Learning (TCALL) where she is heavily involved with Texas AEL Distance Learning, content development, project management, and the Technology Integration Coach program.
Dan Griffith
Dan is President of the Education Division of Essential Education. He is a former high school dropout who got his HSE diploma and went on to become a teacher. He has worked in educational publishing since 1996 and specifically in adult education publishing since 2008. Dan is the father of 5 children and an avid Crossfitter and outdoorsman. He serves weekly as a Reserve Deputy in his home county and loves the opportunity to impact his community for good.
Krista Mosher Krista has been an ABE/ASE teacher for 24 years, and is currently working as a Manager of PD Field Services with TRAIN PD @ TCALL with Texas A&M University. She was involved with the Texas ABE Math Initiative from 2006 to 2014, and the Master Teacher Academy in Math in 2015-2016, and is a nationally trained GED® trainer for all subject areas. She loves teaching and working with teachers to increase their skills and knowledge, especially in Mathematics.
Patricia (Tricia) Noske
Patricia holds a Ph.D. from the University of the Incarnate Word with a dual concentration in Adult Education and Organizational Leadership. Retiring from the corporate world after more than 25 years in management, she returned to school to obtain her Ph.D. and to enter the world of teaching. She believes in lifelong learning, staying busy, being continually re-energized, and finding ways to give back to her community. A grandmother of two teenage boys, she loves all things Italian, mystery novels, and going to see Mickey Mouse & Friends at least twice a year.
Jonna McDonough Forsyth
Jonna is GED Testing Service’s State Relationship for Texas, having joined the GEDTS team in January 2020. Prior to GEDTS, she worked in high school equivalency assessment for six years, and taught ELA to at risk youth for five years. Jonna brings her extensive experience in staff development, training and education to the adult education community of professionals to support student learning and high school equivalency credentialing among adult learners.
Gary Audas Jr., EdD, MPA, MEd (p)
Gary is the Executive Director of Educational Outcomes, a Texas-based non-profit centered on trauma-informed solutions for learners the world over. Currently, Gary is working in Lyon in partnership with both the Lycee St. Ursule and Verbal Aikido on researching non-violent communication techniques in learning platforms in France. Past projects include the development and management of a Trauma-Informed GED Prep Program for at-risk adults as well as Trauma-Informed Teacher Training Programs in the Middle East. Gary holds a doctorate in Literacy from Sam Houston State University and has been both an 8 th -grade History teacher and a university-level faculty member preparing incoming teachers for their chosen profession.

Our Presenters:
Sarah Fisher earned her MA-TESL degree from Hawaii Pacific University in 2009. Since then she’s taught ESL and French at various schools and colleges in HI, MD, NY, and NC. She is currently an ESL Instructor at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland AFB and an online writing instructor for the University of Maryland.
JoAnn Mena earned her MA-TESOL degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 2009. Since then she taught ESL at UTSA for 8 years before moving on to her currency place of employment at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland AFB. Her general areas of interest in the ESL field include: curriculum development, assessment, TOEFL, refugee ESL education, distance learning, and Online instruction and technology.
Jonathon Vasquez – South Texas Literacy Coalition. Mr. Vasquez holds an Associate's degree in Anthropology from South Texas College, along with a Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Sports Management from The University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley and is currently working on his Master's in Public Affairs. For over half a decade, Jonathon worked with high school and college students, helping them transition into higher education. Jonathon oversees the STLC book distribution initiative and Higher Education Transition program, along with programming in Family Literacy, Financial Literacy, and Health Literacy.
Jessica Rothenberg-Aalami, PhD. FOUNDER & CEO. Jessica is an impact entrepreneur with over 20 years' experience designing and delivering relevant tech to global markets. Her on-the-ground experience, research, and innovation in over 40 countries stems from her rigorous attention to user needs.
Kathleen Yarborough – West University Baptist Church
Community Ministry Director
Kathleen Yarborough is the Director of Community Ministries at West University Baptist and Crosspoint Church in Houston, TX. She leads the ESL ministry and coordinates the local mission efforts. Kathleen began teaching ESL in 2001 and has served as a volunteer teacher and program director and full time staff. She has also taught English in China for several summer programs with high school students. Kathleen is a trainer with Literacy ConneXus which assists faith based programs in developing ESL and literacy programs and training teachers. She is married to her husband Steve who both cooks AND cleans and has a basset hound baby whose name she cannot tell you or she would have to reset all her passwords
