The CHS Library's OverDrive collection offers lots of new and popular titles as well as classic fiction. Students and staff can read or listen to books from a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. Logging in is simple--just use your school network log in credentials (see details below).

How Do I Find Downloadable Books?

1. Start by going to this web address: http://vssdc.lib.overdrive.com

2. Select Colchester High School from the list of schools in the drop-down menu.

3. Click "Sign In" to be taken to a log in page. Use the same log in credentials you use for the school network (firstname.lastname and your password).

4. Browse titles or search for specific items. Ebooks are marked with a book icon; audiobooks have a headphones icon. A bold icon indicates an item available for download. A gray icon indicates the book is checked out, but if you hover over the item you will see an option to "Place a hold."

How Do I Read/Listen to a Title?

1. To select a title, place your cursor on the book's cover and click "Borrow."

2. Go to the Checkouts page of your account to find titles you have borrowed. Next to your titles you will find buttons showing different options for reading/listening, putlined below.

• To read or listen in your browser, click on the green button that says "Read" or "Listen" (in your browser). The title will immediately open in your browser.
• To download to a mobile device, first install the free OverDrive app (available from any major app store), create a personal Overdrive account (this is separate from your school Overdrive account), and connect the app to the CHS library. The Overdrive app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, Android, Chromebook, Kindle Fire HD, and Windows 8 and 10. Once the app is installed and set up, you can download a title to your device by clicking the black button that says "Download" or "Add to app." From the Overdrive app, access your titles on the "Bookshelf" in the app menu. You can also browse for and borrow through the Overdrive app.
