Co-Presidents or President: The president(s) shall preside over the meetings of the Executive Committee and provide that all committees choose a chair and be an ex officio member or members of all standing committees and shall be the executive officer(s) of the Association. The president(s) shall represent the Association before the public either personally or through delegates and shall perform the functions usually attributed to this office. The president(s) will meet as necessary to review job performance of appointed executive committee members.
Vice-President(s)- (SS and Teacher(if not co-president model)): These officer(s) shall preside in the absence of the president(s). They shall work closely with one or more standing committees as the president(s) may request. The support staff vice-president may be a member of the support staff negotiations team.
Secretary: The secretary shall keep accurate minutes of the executive committee and regular business meetings and shall assist the Association correspondence. The secretary maintains the CEA website with updated membership and contact information, as well as executive board meeting minutes for review by committee members. The secretary creates ballots and nomination surveys, and does the voting for elected positions and CEA Friend of Colchester and Member of the Year awards, and counts the votes for ratification of the contract. The secretary keeps an organized electronic filing system for the records of the standing committees.
Treasurer. The treasurer shall hold the funds of the Association and shall disburse them upon authorization of the Executive Committee. It is the responsibility of the treasurer to see to the collection of annual dues, collect them from individuals or through payroll deductions and transmit monies due to the Vermont-NEA. The treasurer shall keep accurate records of receipts and disbursements. The treasurer shall keep the president and Executive Committee informed of all transactions as well as the financial condition of the Association. The treasurer may be bonded by the Association. The treasurer shall keep records, which will be given to an appointed auditor who is public accountant who is not a member of the Colchester Education Association. The books will be audited before June 1st. The auditor will forward a detailed written report to the Executive Committee.
Membership Chair: The membership chair shall process all paperwork pertaining to membership. It is the responsibility of the membership chair to keep updated records regarding current membership information. The membership chair is expected to attend all CEA Executive Committee meetings and to communicate with the VTNEA and the CEA on any membership issues. The membership chair is responsible for training building reps to complete membership forms and for explaining membership requirements and recruiting initiatives. In addition, the membership chair will ensure the eligibility of voters at CEA general meetings.
Building Representatives: The building representatives shall be responsible for attending Executive Committee meetings and shall make periodic reports to the members they represent. They shall also report information from the Vermont-NEA. Members can communicate with the Executive Committee through their building representatives. Building representatives shall be elected by the faculty and staff in each building.
