New London County Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Center

(Southeast Connecticut, Based out of Waterford, CT on the New London city border)

Evidence-based CBT is the world's most well-researched method of psychotherapeutic treatment. Extensive studies have shown it can do more than merely suppress symptoms, but also resolve them.

How does it work? Basically, our thoughts lead to emotions, and our emotions lead to behaviors. To break this cycle, there are opportunities at each juncture, but when possible we modify the thinking so as to change the emotion and behavior. Please see here for more information on how CBT works, including an example of someone with social anxiety and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Special Thanks to: our clinicians for their input on this website and to Jefferson Singer, Ph.D. for the suggestion to make this site, along with a brief video that explains CBT. Without this help, this site would not exist, and the community would not be as aware of our CBT practice.
