Membership

All high schools must register for both Coast Forensic League (CFL) and California High School Speech Association (CHSSA) annually in order to be eligible to participate in CFL tournaments (see explainer). The two steps are explained below. 

Please note that registering for CFL does not automatically make you a member of the National Speech & Debate Association or NSDA California Coast District. Coaches, please see the School Eligibility Summary to inquire if your school is eligible to compete at our League Tournaments for the 2026-27 Season. Schools eligible should have a "Yes" in the column for "Tournament Eligibility."

Dues are waived for the 2026-27 season; schools do NOT need to pay the $169 CFL dues or the $150 CHSSA dues. 

1.  CFL Registration
Complete the CFL Registration Form and email it back to coast.forensic.league@gmail.com. Please ensure your school administrator has also signed the form.    

2. CHSSA Registration 

Complete the CHSSA Registration Form . 

• you do NOT need to pay any dues to CFL or CHSSA this year.  

• this form dually registers your school both in CHSSA (our state league) and CFL (our local league) 

• the emails you enter will be added to the CFL coaches Google Group, which has access to our Google Drive
