Here you will find information for both our in person and distant learning methods. Our goal is to move our bodies! Much of our life is spent comfortable and sedentary which is the opposite of what our bodies are designed to do. No matter if we are in person or online, our main priority is to get our students to be in motion.
2020-2021 Distant Learning PE Grading:
40% Attendance, 40% Participation, 20% Assessment/Logs
Each full week of school (Monday-Friday) has 10 points in attendance, 10 points in participation, & 4 points in assessment/logs
2019-2020 in Person PE (please reference the syllabus page)
Each full week of school (Monday-Friday) has 5 points worth of dressing out and 5 points worth of participation:
Participation is worth 40% of their overall grade and dressing out is 30%! the other 30% comes from skills (unit) testing, written tests, mile Mondays, etc.
Mile-Monday is almost every week leading up to California Physical Fitness Testing (PFT) in the spring. This Mile-Monday is worth 10 points.
In order to prepare our students for a healthy life after they leave Buchanan High School, we want to make sure they are consistently testing in the healthy fitness zone and able to pass our California Standards.
There are also skills testing or unit tests (i.e. swim performance test, volleyball quiz, PFT scores) that can be added to their overall grade. This changes depending on the unit.
