About the book / News

A selection of favourite walks by members of three Clun walking groups, in a peaceful and scenically beautiful part of south-west Shropshire on the Welsh border. The walks range from 2 to 14 miles and are leisurely to strenuous grade.  Each walk includes brief points of interest - history, archaeology, flowers, wildlife, with more extensive information also provided. Whether you prefer to use OS maps or to rely on a detailed text - this book includes both to help experienced and relatively new walkers.

To date the book has been produced, managed and distributed entirely by volunteers from the Clun Walking Groups, with funding through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Peoples Postcode Lottery and Shropshire Council.  We have now sold over 5000 copies from three print runs and the profits from these sales has enabled us to make donations to a number of groups, projects and good causes.  Some of these are listed on the Support page of this website.

The success of the book has been way beyond our original expectation.  Early in 2012, in order to keep the book in publication, we took the decision to look for a partner to help manage and market the book for the future.  We approached the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership (SHAONB), one of our original funders, who were delighted to be given this unique opportunity. I'm pleased to say that due to this the third print is now available. The SHAONB have made this possible by obtaining a grant from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and adding their own contributions from funds raised through the Walking with Offa Project, our grateful thanks go to them.

Our sincere thanks go to everyone who has contributed to the ongoing success of this project.
