The Clinton Co. Chapter is a local Chapter of a National organization called "The Izaak Walton League of America. We are a organization of "Conservationists" 55,000 strong scattered throughout the United States and one Chapter in England. Our pledge is: "To strive for the purity of water, the clarity of air, and the wise stewardship of the land and its resources; to know the beauty and understanding of nature the value of wildlife, woodlands and open space: to the preservation of this heritage and to man's sharing in it." "I pledge myself as a member of the Izaak Walton League of America"
We are "grass roots" oriented and are governed by a National Board of Officers, and a 13 member "Executive Board" and 72 "National Directors" from across the country. All elected by Chapter Delegates at a annual National Convention occurring in July. Resolutions passed by that Convention are the guiding policies for all of us. The Clinton Chapter, in its 66 years of existence, has tackled many local and area issues that concerned us as level headed/even mined conservationists. The League's approach is not "an in your face confrontation" but a more civil approach of "we know it didn't happen in a day or week or month, but what can we do to help correct the matter in a timely manner".
