- After purchasing the package, I will email you a zip file that contains the files that you are purchasing. Download this zip file and then right click on the file (wherever it was saved to) and click ‘extract all.’ Save the new folder anywhere on your computer that is convenient.
- When you open the extracted folder, there will be 2 Excel files and 2 Access files, 1 of each being the template itself. The 'Client Tracker Sample' (Access) and the 'Client File Sample' (Excel) are populated examples of each of these templates. Just open these files and look through them to see examples of how to input information.
- To save the template files as templates in their respective programs, first open each template. (This will allow you to quickly create new documents from the template with one click when you open the program)
- In Excel, go to File and then Save As. Click Browse and a dialogue box will pop up. Click the drop down menu next to ‘Save As Type’ and click on ‘Excel Template’. You can name the file anything you want and it will redirect you to be saving in the appropriate folder, so just click save. Now when you open Excel, click the Personal Tab near the top of the screen, and you should see your template. Just click on it and your document will be created based on the template. Then go to Save As and name and save your file wherever you would like (see instructions document for tips on folder management).
- In Access, the process is very similar, but the screens may look a little different. When you go to the File tab and click Save As, there will be a table on the screen with a box for ‘Database File Types.’ Double-click the Template icon and then fill in the information and click OK. Then follow the same steps as above to open a new file from the template.
