Principal Investigator: Cheng-Lun Hsin
Cheng-Lun Hsin earned his Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from National Tsing-Hua University in June 2002 and his Ph.D. in May 2008. From February 2007 to February 2008, he was an exchange graduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. After his studies, he joined Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's Back-end Module Department 1 as a principal engineer. In December 2009, he began postdoctoral research at National Chiao-Tung University and continued this work at the University of California, Berkeley, in March 2011. In August 2012, he became an assistant professor at National Central University, Taiwan, and has been a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering since August 2020.
As a postdoctoral fellow, he investigated the dynamic reactions of metal/compound transformations to solar energy materials, Si bicrystals, metal oxides, silicides, surface plasmonics, and the thermoelectric properties of semiconducting materials such as Bi-Te, III-VI compounds, and silicides. His future research plans focus on the atomic structure evolution of materials with electron transport/chemical reactions, oxide semiconductor process innovation, and the processing and device fabrication of thermoelectric materials. Since 2005, he has published more than 60 SCI journal papers, accumulating over 1900 SCI citations.
