Clemson Swimming Pool Club, Inc Rules
· Obey Lifeguards at all times. They have full authority!
· Courteous and safe behavior is expected at all times. Running, rough splashing, horseplay, profanity, chicken fighting, back dives, and spitting or nose blowing in the water are not allowed.
· Obey all safety and warning signs posted around the pool.
· All members must sign in upon arrival with family name, time, and number in party.
· Adult Swim is for a period of 15 minutes maximum, on the hour.
o During adult swim, all children under the age of 18 need to be up on the upper deck or seated in lounge chairs. No children should be within four feet of the pool edge or playing games in or across the pool.
· Children normally in diapers must wear disposable swim diapers.
· Members between the ages of 12-14 may stay at the pool without parental/guardian supervision under the following conditions:
o The child must pass a Swim Qualification Test. The test will consist of a surface swim for 2 lengths of the pool, treading water for 2 minutes, and floating for 1 minute. This test will be given each year until the child reaches the age of 14.
o The child and parent will sign a form stating that they have read or have had read to them the rules and understand the discipline guidelines.
o Each time your child stays alone at the pool, you must sign your child in and leave a phone number of where you can be reached during that time period.
· NO ONE under the age of 12 (regardless of swimming ability) may stay at the pool without a parent or responsible person present. A responsible person must be at least 14 years of age. (On-duty lifeguards cannot be used at the responsible party.)
· Guests: Members must sign in all guests upon arrival including name and children’s ages. The fee for in-town guest is $5.00 per guest. (In-town is defined as living in Pickens, Oconee or Anderson County.) No fee is required for grandparents, grandchildren, or out –of –town guests.
o Guests under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible person 14 years or older.
· Help keep the pool clean. No food, gum, or drinks are allowed in the pool. Water in plastic containers is the only permissible beverage allowed outside of designated food areas. All food and drinks, other than water, must be consumed on the upper deck or in the designated food area (tables located just below the upper deck.)
· The use of inflatable floats and toys, balls, Frisbees, and other pool toys will be allowed at the discretion of the lifeguard based primarily on the number of individuals in the pool as well as the appropriate use of the toys. Water guns are not allowed at the pool.
· No one with open sores or wearing band-aids should be in the pool. (Band-aids will clog the filter.)
· Telephone use is restricted to necessary calls of short duration (3 min max).
· Diving area rules
o Only one person allowed on the diving board at a time.
o Only one bounce on the diving board per dive.
o Dive off the end of the board only.
o NO BACK DIVES!
o While people are diving, there shall be no one in the dive well – dive, swim to the ladder and exit the pool.
o No floats allowed in the diving area.
o Children 6 and under must be supervised by a responsible person 14 years of age or older.
o Games in the diving area must be halted when three (3) or more people wish to dive.
o Games must be played in the water. There is to be NO diving or jumping off the sides of the diving area.
· Violation of pool rules may lead to revocation of pool privileges lasting from 10 minutes to permanent suspension. To provide continuity between guards and shifts, a “discipline” notebook will be used to record infractions. Behavior/discipline guidelines are as follows:
o Infraction 1: The lifeguard will give verbal reminder(s) of the rules.
o Infraction 2: The person will be asked to sit out for a period of time to be determined by the lifeguard.
o Infraction 3: The person will be suspended from the pool for a day. The lifeguard will notify the pool manager and/or president who will talk with the parent(s).
o Infraction 4: The person will be suspended from the pool for a minimum of 3 days. The pool president will contact the parent(s). Children under the age of 14 may lose their privilege to be at the pool unsupervised, and/or the pool president can take such other action as the Board of directors deems fit as set forth in the by-laws.
§ Note: Some behavior may lead to immediate suspension of pool privileges with NO warnings. If this occurs, the pool president and/or pool manager will be notified for review and additional handling of the situation.
