These / Those เป็นพหูพจน์ (หลายอัน)
This, That, These, Those are called demonstratives and they are used to show the relative distance between the speaker and the noun.
We use this (singular) and these (plural) to refer to something that is here / near.
We use that (singular) and those (plural) to refer to something that is there / far.
Demonstrative Pronouns ทำหน้าที่เป็นคำสรรพนาม
This is my computer. นี่ คือ คอมพิวเตอร์ ของฉัน
That is his mom. นั่น คือ แม่ ของเขา
What is this? นี่ คือ อะไร
That is a man we met at school yesterday. นั่น คือ ผู้ชาย ที่ เรา เจอ ที่ โรงเรียน เมื่อวาน
I don’t like this. I like that. ผม ไม่ ชอบ อันนี้ ผม ชอบ อันนั้น (เป็นอะไรนั้นอยู่กับสถานการณ์)
Please take this. Don’t take that. กรุณา เอา อันนี้ อย่า เอา อันนั้น
These are my bikes. เหล่านี้ คือ รถจักรยาน ของฉัน
Those are my sisters. เหล่านั้น คือ พี่สาว ของฉัน
What are those? เหล่านั้น คือ อะไร
Demonstrative Adjectives ทำหน้าที่เป็นคุณศัพท์
You can also use demonstratives before a noun. These are called demonstrative adjectives.
The Demonstrative Adjective needs to agree (= be the same form) as the noun.
Examples of demonstrative adjectives:
This party is boring. (singular)
That city is busy. (singular)
These chocolates are delicious. (plural)
Those flowers are beautiful. (plural)
This car is very cheap. รถ คันนี้ ถูก มาก
This black shirt is 100 baht. เสื้อเชิ๊ต สีดำ ตัวนี้ ราคา 100 บาท
This white house is tall. บ้าน สีขาว หลังนี้ สูง
I don’t like that cat. ฉัน ไม่ชอบ แมว ตัวนั้น
Who is that girl? เด็กหญิง คนนั้น คือ ใคร
She lives in that hut? หล่อน อาศัยอยู่ ใน กระท่อม หลังนั้น
These students are from Japan. นักเรียน เหล่านี้ มา จาก ญี่ปุ่น
These watches are very expensive. นาฬิกา เหล่านี้ แพง มาก
Those men go to work by train. ผู้ชาย เหล่านั้น ไป ทำงาน โดย รถไฟ
Those dogs are playing in the park. สุนัข เหล่านั้น กำลังเล่น ใน สวน
Whose are these books? หนังสือ เหล่านี้ คือ ของใคร
