Welcome to the Democratic Party web site for Clarendon County, South Carolina. This site reflects our efforts to build support for the party as we move into the future. The Democratic Party candidates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, have just won the 2020 National Election, after a historic voter turnout. However, it's never too early to begin preparing for the next national election in 2022 when we hope to take back control of the SC State Legislature and the US Congress.
The Clarendon County Democratic Party is the local county affiliate of the SC Democratic Party. Within the county, there are 26 precincts.
The South Carolina Democratic Party (SCDP) is the state affiliate of the national Democratic Party. It is headquartered in Columbia, S.C.
The U.S. Democratic Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the country. It was founded back in 1828, making it the oldest political party in the U.S.
For more than 200 years, the Democratic Party has led the fight for civil rights, health care, Social Security, workers' rights, and women's rights across the United States and right here in South Carolina. We are the party that represents the countless everyday Americans who work each day to build a more perfect union. We are proud of our accomplishments and we're proud to be Democrats.
Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential Election, despite Hillary Clinton winning the popular vote by 3 million votes. Subsequently, at the local level the SC Democratic Party did very well in 2018, helping to return control of the US House of Representatives to Democrats. Now, Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris have won the 2020 National Presidential Election by more than 6 million popular votes. Thank you for voting. Now on to the 2022 elections.
