Sandstone / Big Creek

Big Creek

One of the western forks of Big Creek contains a significant double waterfall.

Coethedral Falls - 92 ft in two tiers.

Two unnamed creeks converge at the same cliff line to form a double waterfall.

Sandstone Creek

Sandstone Creek contains the highest quantity of scenic waterfalls of any creek in the Clackamas drainage. Its an enormous undertaking to see all the falls on this creek. The upper reaches of this creek become very cliffy and very remote. Any attempt of the upper falls on this creek should be done at one's own risk.

South Branch of Sandstone Creek.

Lower Sandstone Creek Falls - 65 ft

Fish Creek Mountain Falls - 75 ft

This waterfall drops right onto the side of FR4622. I imagine with more water this falls could be photogenic.

Middle Branch of Sandstone Creek. This branch contains several nice waterfalls. I'll start at the bottom and work upstream.

Double Falls - 58 ft

Double Falls is located where two forks of the creek merge by falling over a basalt ledge

Wedding Ring Falls - 45 ft

A gentleman I know lost his wedding ring here, Contact me if you find it. Brianedwards0@yahoo.com

This falls is just downstream of Sandstone Falls, and just above Double Falls. Very cool area for waterfalls.

Upper tier of Wedding Ring Falls, you can just see a piece of it in the photo above.

Sandstone Falls - 115 ft

Conk Falls - 45 ft

Just above Sandstone Falls, the creek forks. Both forks contain a waterfall. The eastern fork contains a falls with a nice cave and a tree with atleast 20 conks on its trunk.

Unnamed Falls - 40 feet

The western side of the fork above Sandstone Falls contains a 40 ft falls.

High Lake Falls - 50 ft

Way up on the Middle Fork, there is a 50' drop. It's a bear to get to, and Ive only been there during the dry season. Photo turned out relatively boring.

HD Video:

North Branch of Sandstone Creek.

This branch of Sandstone Creek contains atleast 5 great waterfalls, but has the most brutal topography to navigate.

Lower North Fork Falls - 40 ft

Directly above Double Falls is this sweet 40 ft falls with some great undercut action.

Middle North Fork Falls - 40 ft

North Fork Falls - 75 ft.

This falls has trees growing in the huge cave behind the falls. Getting to the base of this falls is only for the very experienced and sure footed. The cliffs are only broken in one spot that we have found allowing access to the base, and its a long confusing traverse through the cliffs to get there.

Upper North Fork Falls - 140 ft

Way up on the North Fork is an awesome 140 ft falls, one of the biggest falls in the Clackamas District.
