How to become a member of the CBSR

Step 1: Complete the school registration information: Principal's Designation Letter.

Step 2: Complete the League Dues Worksheet.

Step 3: Send the above Principal's Designation Letter to Erick Pielstick, League President and your League Dues Form and check to David Chamberlin, League Treasurer.  (Mailing addresses are in the forms)

Step 4: Create an account at Tabroom.com.

Step 5: Register for a tournament.

BENEFITS

* Your school's Speech and Debate team can compete in CBSR tournaments against other CBSR schools.

* Your school's Speech and Debate team can compete in the CBSR Championship Tournaments.

* Your students may apply for the Mike Newbold Memorial Scholarship.

How to become a member of California High School Speech Association

Step 1: Follow the instructions on this link: Join CHSSA and pay your CHSSA dues.

Step 2: Join CBSR.

Step 3: Register for a tournament.

BENEFITS

* Your school's Speech and Debate team can compete in CBSR Championship Tournaments against other CBSR schools, and if one of your students meets the criteria, they can compete at the CHSSA State Tournament.

* You have access to CHSSA resources.

How to become a member of the National Speech and Debate Association, and the National Forensic League Speech and Debate Honor Society

Step 1: Follow the instructions on this link: NFL application and pay your NDSA dues.

Step 2: Join CBSR.

Step 3: Register for a tournament.

BENEFITS

* Your school's Speech and Debate team can compete in the CBSR National Qualifying Tournament against other Southern California District schools, and if one of your students qualifies, they can compete at the National Speech and Debate Association Tournament. 

* Your students earn points through the NFL, an arm of the National Speech and Debate Association, which leads to different membership levels and graduation diploma seals.

* You have access to the National Speech and Debate Association resources.

* Your students may apply for the District Student of the Year and the National Student of the Year.
