2. Transportation to/from airport:

Lima's main airport is Jorge Chavez International (LIM). There are direct flights from major Latin-American, North-American and European cities. The airport and its services are open 24/7.

a. How to reach the hotel from Jorge Chavez International:

The easiest and safest way to get from LIM to the hotel is by TAXI. There are many licensed taxi companies that operate to/from LIM. You will find them both in the luggage area or in the lobby located right before you exit the arrivals area. Some of the most popular taxi companies are Taxi Directo and Taxi Green. There are others as well, please see:

https://www.lima-airport.com/eng/for-passengers/transportation-from-to-the-airport/licensed-taxis

for more information and rates. A taxi costs approximately 60 soles (direction LIM -> San Miguel).

For your safety, please avoid taking non-licensed taxi's from the airport.

b. Getting around the city by taxi:

The following are some useful tips from www.lonelyplanet.com:

"Lima’s taxis lack meters, so negotiate fares before getting in. Fares vary depending on the length of the journey, traffic conditions, time of day (evening is more expensive) and your Spanish skills. Registered taxis or taxis hailed outside a tourist attraction charge higher rates. As a (very) rough guide, a trip within Miraflores costs around 10 soles (Soles is the official currency of Peru). From Miraflores to Central Lima is around 15 soles, to Barranco from 8 to 12 soles, and San Isidro from 8 to 12 soles. You can haggle fares – though it’s harder during rush hour. If there are two or more passengers be clear on whether the fare is per person or for the car.

The majority of taxis in Lima are unregistered (unofficial); indeed, surveys have indicated that no less than one vehicle in seven here is a taxi. During the day, it's usually not a problem to use either. At night it is important to use registered taxis for your safety, which are traceable by the license number painted on the side. They should also have checkers, a rectangular authorization sticker with the word SETAME on the upper left corner of the windshield and may have yellow paint.

Registered taxis can be called by phone or found at taxi stands, such as the one outside the Sheraton in Central Lima or outside the LarcoMar shopping mall in Miraflores. Registered taxis cost about 30% more than regular street taxis but the security is worth it.

3. Getting from the Hotel Melodia to PUCP

The easiest way is by walking. Lima is a big and crowded city, there is usually a lot of traffic, so it is advisable to get to a place by walking whenever possible (provided it is safe to do so).
