My area of expertise is Psycholinguistics/Neurolinguistics.

I hold a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Ottawa, Canada. I have had post-doctoral appointments at the Department of Psychology, Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill University, Montreal, Canada and the School of Psychology, University of Sussex, UK.  After having spent 5 years at the University of Patras as Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Psycho-/Neurolinguistics, I moved to the Department of Comparative and General Linguistics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.  In 2014,  I visited the Aphasia and Neurolinguistics Lab at Northwestern University as Fulbright Scholar.

My current research focuses on the following areas:

(1) Cross-linguistic investigations of lexical access and representation of derived words, compound words and pseudo-words using a variety of behavioral and brain-imaging methodologies (EEG and MEG). 

(2) Cognitive and linguistic impairments in aging populations with chronic neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Semantic Dementia, Primary Progressive Aphasia, Parkinson's disease and related dementias.

(3) Language intervention and therapy in developmental and acquired language disorders by employing behavioral methods as well as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).
