2015: On ISIS in Iraq (BARtalk). This was a panel discussion organized by an excellent student group at UBC.
2014: On the conflict in Gaza (CiTR: I come on at about the 28 minute mark).
2014: On the 'referendum' in Crimea (Fairchild TV).
Erratum: In this clip, I say that the ballot gave Crimeans two options - 'to join Russia' or 'become independent.' I should have said the two options were 'to join Russia' or 'to become an autonomous region in Ukraine.' However, there was no third option: to retain the status quo as part of Ukraine. The general point - that the referendum does not meet the standard of a 'fair election' - still holds.
2014: On the situation in Ukraine (BARtalk). This panel was set up by a fantastic student-run project at UBC.
2014: On the difficulty of democratic transitions (UBC website).
2014: On the civil war in Syria (CBC Radio 'On the Coast': I come on at about the 52 minute mark).
2010: With Ron Krebs on the problems of state-building in Afghanistan (Foreign Affairs).
