Scouting originated in Chino in 1926 with Troop 201 sponsored by the American Legion. Vernon Decker, Bob Brady and Ernest Soper were responsible for the first organization. The first Scoutmaster was John V. Cooley and the boys met at the Thimble Club. The first registered Scouts were Jack Birnie, Ed Brinderson, Don Brinderson, Dudley Deay, Dale Frady, George Garretson and Edward Harris. Since 1941 the Chino Rotary Club has been the sponsor of troop 201.
