Now that you’ve learned initials, finals, and tones, all of which are the elements of spelling. In this section, you’ll learn how to spell to form a syllable with an initial and a final (sometimes even two finals!).
Please download the software of EzPinYin and install it. It’s free software for learning Mandarin Chinese Pinyin, where all the elements of Pinyin are provided. Here are procedures for you to employ EzPinYin to practice Chinese spelling:
Pick an initial from the "Initials" section. See rifgt snapshop mark (1). The pronunciation will be played and you are advised to follow.
The illustration of points of articulation used to produce the initial you pick will be displayed in (2). Pay attention to the illustration and description below.
Pick a final (or compound final) from the "Finals" section. See The brown ones are those can match the inital you pick; the gray ones are not. See right snapshot mark (3). The pronunciation of the final you pick will be played. Please practice pronouncing as well.
Pick a tone you wish to match with the syllable you create with an initial and an final you pick in "Tone" section. See right illustration mark (4). How it is pronounced will played and you should repeat to practice.
How to write the syllable you create will be displayed in (5). Do repeat with the recording and pay attention how to write, especially where to add tone mark!
