Guitars

You can play Hot Club style guitar on any steel strung acoustic, but a Manouche style guitar will give the distinctive percussive punch and trebly tone. You can get the tone easily on most steel acoustic guitars by playing nearer the bridge (but not necessairly the volume).

Hobgoblin - Stockist of low - medium priced Gitane instruments.

Mairants - good selection of budget and mid-priced Manouche style Modele Jazz and Grand Bouche guitars, and occasional Dell'Arte and other big ticket models. The also have the best selection of arctop guitars in London, but if you're after something special see also Vintage & Rare in Denmark Street. Outside London Foulds in Derby, has a great reputations for Jazz guitars.

JWC Guitars - Great mid-priced and expensive Manouche style guitars

John LeVoi (and here) - Handmade Manouche style guitars to order - is also believed to be maintaining guitars made by the late David Hodson
