The Moriguchi Child Development Lab at Kyoto University's Graduate School of Letters explores the fundamental question of how children's minds differ from adults' in their perception and experience of the world. Under the direction of Dr. Yusuke Moriguchi, our research primarily investigates subjective experience(consciousness), executive function (self-control), and imagination (including phenomena like imaginary companions). We employ a comprehensive methodological approach, combining behavioral experiments, eye-tracking, physiological measurements, and neuroimaging techniques (NIRS and fMRI), along with cross-cultural comparisons. Through this multifaceted lens, we aim to unravel the unique characteristics of children's cognitive and brain development, offering insights into how young minds construct and navigate their reality.
We are very welcome to anyone who is interested in our lab from all over the world.
