Hi, my name is Chelsea Reshard!
I am a freshman at "LU" coming from Long Island, New York. Throughout my educational journey, there were many different sides to every aspect of learning that has helped me to grow. I consider myself to be a hard worker who is very persistent. I try to take lots of notes and really get an understanding of the lessons being taught and discussed. I am not afraid to ask for assistance if I need help and I am always willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. In order to try and do my best, I have had no problem going to extra help, asking my teachers to explain a problem after class or even go to tutoring in order to increase my understanding. I have learned to advocate for myself to get the support that I might need to be as successful as possible.
Time management is a struggle for me so I try to stay on top of my work. I've used methods of planning when assignments are due and that need to be finished at a specific time. Doing homework beforehand makes the process easier. Not only am I getting my homework done but I'm learning as I review the questions as I go along. I correct myself and remember to not repeat simple errors that can be fixed. I'm aware that focusing on what's important will help you succeed. I know that my education comes first and knowledge is my power.
Even though one of my strengths are working with others, I often prefer working alone. I feel that it’s quicker doing work alone because you are responsible for your work and do not have to depend on others. My creativity helps to add more of a personal quality to my work. I alternate my use of vocabulary when I revise or proofread my essays and translate them into words that help to easier express what I’m clarifying.
My creative side has contributed to my educational journey. I am able to use my creativity as a strength in subjects such as English, History and Art. My use of words stand out when I write my essays to depict what I feel the reader might visualize. I like to study past events that have helped to change history. I enjoy history because it shows how people learn from their past and create improvements for the future and I love creative writing. As an artist, I express my work through the use of different techniques, materials and methods to express my views and to make a point. I try to get hold of every detail and tell stories through my drawings and words to emphasize the highlights that the public eye may not see. In addition to drawing and writing, I have been a dancer since I was very young. I have a strong connection to the arts and always try to put my creativity into my work.
