For Open Studios I did a mixed media project with photos overlaid with acrylic paints and embraced my display space with the assemblage:
I was pleasantly surprised it didn't peel off the freshlypainted walls during its 3 day installation. It turned outto be my most popular piece, with its whimsy, chance andspontaneity.I envisioned it as a temporary piece that would likely be destroyed at closing time, but a kind spirit offered to help take itdown carefully and it will soon adorn her home inAustralia!Fifty Paintings in 50 days!
I am delighted to have been accepted to show in the Sanchez Art Center's 50-50 III show, 8/26-10/2 where each
artist was to produce 50 paintings (6x6") in 50 days. The 50 days of painting ending August 1 were a terrific experience.
During the project, I enjoyed several photo safaris and the studio time.
For almost three weeks after I obsessively fiddled with the arrangement of the panels and finally settled on the exact layout only
on 8/20. Why is the last minute so alluring?
Here's a little sampler of one organization of my
50-50 grid. It shows the color palette, some content.

I took a lot of photos to prepare thoughts about content of this project, flirted with nostalgia, cutesy, confrontational. Unexpected paintings resulted..
In Spring I did some studies for this project. Here's just one permutation of the prototypes. I love gingham!
Other projects this year have included some fun acrylic paintings. Somehow goats have come into view.
