There are two CHARA Board of Director positions currently unfilled. The position of First VP remains unfilled from last year’s election. A second BOD position has opened up with the announcement of Marianna Lauterbach’s resignation due to health reasons from her position of VP-Events. The BOD is actively searching for nominees for this position. The duties of the position re described below. Anyone interested should contact one of the CHARA BOD members. The CHARA BOD has the authorization to make this appointment of a person to serve out the remaining two-year term.
VP-Events shall be responsible for Membership tours, trips, events, and other association outings. The VP-Events shall perform any additional duties assigned by the President.
Identify two potential trips/outings (Spring and Fall trips). Plan, notify CHARA members via email blast, and conduct the event. Event examples are tours of historical locations, trips to places of interest, attendance at Astros games, etc.
Maintain connection with the Precinct 4 Transportation personnel to schedule and arrange for bus transportation to CHARA events
Coordinate the transportation of CHARA members on the Precinct bus to the annual COP Holiday concert.
Negotiate with Event contacts for cost of event; work with CHARA Treasurer for payment receipts and expenditures.

WHO WE ARE
THE CONOCOPHILLPS/Phillips 66 HOUSTON AREA RETIREES ASSOCIATION (CHARA)
CHARA promotes continued personal contact among those who have retired from one of the family of COP companies and provides a continued communication link with COP/PSX.
WHAT WE DO
Provide opportunities to participate in social events, benefit from speaker programs of special interest, attend local entertainment & sports events, tour areas of special interest and participate in volunteer opportunities through CONOCOPHILLIPS.
Meet quarterly in March, June, September and December at a location TBD such as MCCU, Hearthstone Country Club, etc. Exact dates of meetings are published in the CHARA Newsletter
Publish a quarterly newsletter in February, May, August, and November.
Maintain a website: http://www.charaonline.com
Participate in volunteer opportunities sponsored by ConocoPhillips (e.g., United Way, and Rodeo Run, etc.).
Keep CHARA membership informed when fellow colleagues pass away.

CHARA is governed by an Executive Board composed of active members.
The Board members volunteer their time and talents to the organization.
Retiree members of CHARA pay annual dues of $5, which offset the costs of the services provided.
