WELCOME MESSAGE FROM

THE CSD FACULTY AND STAFF:

A warm welcome to the graduate students in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at Chapman University! The faculty and staff are pleased to see the familiar faces of our wise second year students and the wide-eyed expressions of our enthusiastic first year students. Each first year student has felt the euphoria of having been accepted into graduate school in one of the most competitive fields in the nation, quickly melt into a realization of the work ahead! Second year students have left their wonder behind and are immersed in rigorous courses and clinical practicum. We pride ourselves on providing a personalized education and I believe you will find it around every corner. For example, we only offer a graduate program in CSD- no undergraduate program- that means we focus all of our attention on you, every day. Plus, you get experiences in two important areas of emphasis in our field: school-based and medical-based communication disorders. Also, you join a cohort of peers where you take the same courses together; yet, you will have unique clinical practicum experiences you can share with each other. The faculty, who are leaders in the field, are welcoming and available for formal and informal learning. We are committed to transforming you from student-scholars to practitioner-scholars in two years- and have you enjoy the ride! Welcome to academic year 2019-2020!

Sincerely,

Mary Kennedy

Ph.D., CCC-SLP Communication Sciences and Disorders Department Chair and Professor
