In a business environment, the displayed email name represents you as a professional. For example, "DeadGamer" will not be the appropriate display name; instead, using your real name, such as Carl Joseph, gives your email a sense of professionalism before the recipient. If you need to change Gmail account name, you can do so by going to the desired Settings option when accessing your account through a PC web browser. There are no restrictions on how you can change the Google Gmail email name.
Note:
You cannot change your username or actual email address. You can only change associated Gmail account name.
If people have saved you as something else in their contacts, they will see that name. Your "new name" will only appear in the emails you send them.
Sign in to your Gmail account.
Go to Change Gmail username.
Click the "Gear" settings icon at the top right.
In the "Send Mail as" section, click edit information.
Add a name to show when sending messages.
Click Save Changes at the bottom.
Note. You can't change your Gmail account name through the Gmail mobile app. You will have to do this through a browser.
Step 1: Open your Gmail account by entering your email ID and password.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to change an existing email address in Gmail.
Note - this is not guaranteed to work for every user.
Step 1: Sign in to your Google Account.
Step 2: Click on Personal Information in the left sidebar.
Step 3: Under contact information, click EMAIL.
Quick note - You can add your phone number to increase the security of your account by tapping PHONE.
Step 4: Click on the Google Account email address. If you can't open this setting, you can't change your email address. However, if you can open it, follow the next step.
Step 5 (If you can click on your Google Account email): Select the edit next to the email address you want to edit. Enter a new email address for your account and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note. You will receive a confirmation email at the new address. To complete the address change, you need to click on the confirmation link in this email. In addition to your primary email ID, you can add other IDs to your Google Account and use them to sign in.
To do this, click the Advanced setting in the EMAIL section of Personal Information.
You can add secondary email IDs, such as contact email, alternate emails, and emails about me, to your Google Account.
If Gmail doesn't allow you to change your email address, you'll need to create a new email account (with the right address) and import your existing data. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it.
Step 1: Create a new Gmail account and sign in.
Step 2: Navigate to your account settings by clicking the settings icon (gear icon) in the upper right corner of your mailbox. In the drop-down menu that appears, click Settings.
Step 3: If you're using a regular Gmail account (ending in gmail.com), go to the "Accounts and Import" tab. If you are using a G Suite account, go to the Accounts tab.
Step 4: In the Import Mail and Contacts section, click Import Mail and Contacts
Note. If you use a G Suite account and do not see the import mail option, you will need to contact your administrator.
Step 5:
A new browser window will appear.
In the text box that appears, enter the old address and click Continue.
You will now be prompted to log in to your old email account.
Open a new browser tab and log in to your old account.
You will now be logged into both your old and new addresses.
Step 6
After logging in to your old account, click Continue.
Another browser window will appear asking you to access your old email account.
After granting access, you will see a status message if the authentication was successful.
Step 7
Now close this window and go to the previous pop-up window (the one with your new account).
Select import options for your old mail account.
You can now import contacts, old emails, and forward all new mail (within the next 30 days) from your old account to your new one.
Select the desired options from the menu and click Start Import.
Step 8: When the import is complete, a ready-made status message will be displayed on the screen.
Step 9: Now upgrade your new Gmail account. You can view messages from your old mail account in a folder with your old account name.
If you can't change your name in Gmail, it may be because
Your company has disabled this functionality (they probably don't want you to change your name, such as to Your Royal Highness), or
You have changed your name too many times recently.
