Google Cloud and Telavox Hackathon: Revolutionizing Voice AI for Customer Support 

On June 3rd, 2025, I had the privilege of participating in Sweden's largest hackathon, organized by Google Cloud and Telavox. While the main event was in Stockholm, I joined the "AI for Voice Agent with Telavox" track in Malmö.

Despite learning about the hackathon only three days prior, I eagerly embraced the challenge. The track specifically advised using Dialogflow CX, a platform I had only a few hours to explore before the event. This presented a significant learning curve, but I thrive on quickly adapting to new technologies. Our team of four included two non-technical product managers, which meant our primary focus was on concept, presentation, and user interaction.

Our team focused on building an AI voice agent aimed at revolutionizing customer support, a core objective of our track. We presented a compelling solution that demonstrated a deep understanding of user needs and aimed to provide valuable insights for product development. Out of six competing teams, we achieved a tie for first place. We were proud of our solution's strong alignment with the hackathon's central theme of customer support, and our success highlighted how critical a clear idea and smooth presentation are.

Beyond our team's work, I actively sought to expand my knowledge. I introduced myself to other teams, particularly identifying one that excelled in technical implementation, a fact confirmed by a Google representative. This reinforced my understanding that while technical depth is crucial, the jury's final decision prioritized the idea's innovation and the polished user experience over underlying technical complexity.

This experience significantly deepened my practical skills in Dialogflow CX, and reinforced my ability to learn rapidly, problem-solve under pressure, and contribute effectively in a team environment. I'm looking forward to applying these newly acquired skills in future projects and eagerly anticipate next year's hackathon.
