At our 45th reunion in 2012
45 friends gathered on the patio
behind the JHS cafeteria
for a picnic and casual good time on Friday night.
Then 65 of us gathered at Parizade
for more memories on Saturday night.
AND PLEASE HELP US FIND ALL OF OUR CLASSMATES SO WE CAN STAY IN TOUCH FOR THE FUTURE --
DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO ON THE PEOPLE LISTED HERE?
We'd love to have your suggestions so feel free to send notes to jhs67@greyhouse.net
We were the first class to go all the way through Jordan High School
The beginning of desegregation in the Durham County Schools
The beginning of the Vietnam era
and a terrible series of assassinations
The end of the McCarthy era
and much much more
But mostly, we were kids -- trying to be accepted,
trying to make our mark on the school,
wishing we were cool,
More interested in the football game and the sock hop
and whether someone liked us
than in national politics.
And we've grown up pretty well.
(A little grayer, a little heavier, a little stiffer,
but still the same starry eyed kids inside
only wiser and kinder and gentler)
Let's celebrate who we were and who we have become!
