Welcome to my personal website. I conduct research on the statistics of extreme events.

I am currently at KNMI (the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute), focusing on the statistics of extreme weather events and their spatial and temporal signatures, long-term variation in their climatology, and estimation of frequencies of very rare events.

Concerning theory, my main interests are large deviation principles as models of the statistics of extreme events, and optimal transport of regular tails of distribution functions. You can find a summary under Research.
