I had written to NCDOT earlier this week to relay concerns I've heard about the current state of our roads. Here is the response, from Jeremy. (Melvin)
(Tuesday October 18th, 2016)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I live in a subdivision off Ellisboro Road called, Cedar Hollow, on Saddlebred Loop, Stokesdale, NC 27357. The homeowners association had recently submitted a signed a petition by the homeowners to turn over this private road to the State and was successful.
Road resurfacing began soon after, but seemed to have come to a halt. Crews left, "Loose Gravel" signs in the neighborhood and haven't returned to complete the job.
Residents around me have expressed annoyance at having gravel and dust churned up by traffic around the neighborhood and wondered if there was a plan by the DOT to lay asphalt. If not, what are the next steps?
Sincerely,
A concerned resident (Melvin)

Mr. Chua,
Yes, you are correct this rest of Saddlebred Loop did get added to the State Maintenance System. Our forces put down BST which is a Pavement Preservation type treatment to preserve the road until we are able to resurface it. The crew has been working in there this week trying to sweep up as much loose gravel as they can. I have Saddlebred loop on the 2019 resurfacing list, but I am trying to get in moved up to next year. Sorry for any inconvenience. If you have any additional questions, you can contact me at 336-634-5642.
Thanks for understanding,
Jeremy M. DeLapp

Hello Jeremy,
Thank you for your timely response. I'm sure the residents will be relieved to hear that the current state of their subdivision road is only temporary.
I shall disseminate this information to the rest of the neighborhood residents through our website.
