The definitive, the affordable, the must have. Do not WCT without this book. Nice perk - no photos... just illustrations so you will still be awestruck by what you see.
Comprehensive, easy to read. History of the Chilkoot trail in detail by time period by a Parks Canada Ranger and a US ranger. Well balanced.
A hiker on the trail for the second time. A historical view balanced with a description of the present day hiking experience the Chilkoot has to offer.
Very opinionated, cuts to the heart. With all of the choices the Canadian Rockies have to offer, you can't afford to bungle a trail choice. All trails rated from Premier to Outstanding to Worthwhile to "Don't do". Even which is good to do when (ie Shoulder Season, in the rain, etc.)
Definitive, highly rated by all who pick it up. A great resource for those who are just starting out.
A serious book with a humorous title. Examines the effects 'shit' has had on our wilderness experience, and how to minimize impact. Great conversation starter.
If you worry at all about bears (and you should), this book advises how to deal with them, how to avoid them, and best of all how to prevent coming into close contact with them.
Interesting coffee table book that does a good job of highlighting a number of different aspects of Killarney Provincial park: from its history, its artistic influences, to canoeing AND hiking.
