Spring Bake Sale: Our Court holds a baked goods sale in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus Sausage Supper each March. Members donate fresh baked goods to be sold as guests are coming and leaving the dinner. This major fundraiser allows us to support many local, state and national charities each year.
Sunshine Committee: Members of this committee sends get well and sympathy cards to our members and their families in times of celebration and sorrow. Visits members who are hospitalized or home-bound at least twice a year.
Spiritual Enhancement: Liturgy preparation and support of our priests, deacons, and religious vocations. Present gifts to parishioners for sacramental celebrations.
Most recently we combined efforts with the Knights to provide each of the 43 confirmands from our local parishes with a beautiful prayer book.
Membership/Leadership: Lead in new member recruitment efforts from both Holy Family and Holy Spirit parishes.
Newsletter: Gather news, publish newsletter, e-mail meeting reminders and updates to members.
Scrapbook: Keeps the history of the Court.
Calling Tree: Calls to inform members about meetings and other events concerning CDA.
Education: Alert students, teachers, and parishioners about scholarships, education contests, and literacy projects. Locally our court sponsors an education contest, with a theme chosen by the national office. A cash award is given out to the top 2 places in each category including art, computer art, poetry. essay, photography and music. Each first place winner moves on the state contest.
Legislation: Keeps members informed on legislative issues from state and national sources through e-mail, phone calls, and at meetings.
Quality of Life: Life Savers Against Abuse - Each spring, members pass out lifesavers after each mass for a free will donation. Any money collected is donated to charities supporting an end to abuse. A portion of our fund stays local, and a portion goes to the state. Locally our court donates to the Mitchell Area Safehouse.
White Ribbons Against Pornography - The last Sunday of October each year, our courts passes out white ribbons with a prayer card after each mass during a weekend to support an end to sexual exploitation and draw attention to the dignity of life. In addition we insert a bulletin flyer educating parishioners about the dignity of life and resources for help.
Charity Bag: Each year our court chooses a local charity or need to donate funds to. At each meeting the charity bag is passed around and members contribute any amount to that charity. In 2022 our court chose to donate our annual donation of $450 to the Davison County Habitat for Humanity. Their current build will provide a new home for a Holy Family Parish family.
