CBHS Highgate was a Catholic boys High School founded by the Christian Brothers in 1936 in Highgate. It operated from 1936 to 1978 when it merged students with St Marks College (previously CBHS Bedford), and the name was changed to CBC Highgate. CBC Highgate operated from 1979 until 1981 with Years 10, 11 and 12 being conducted at Highgate, and years 4 to 9 being conducted at St. Marks College in Bedford. From 1982 the two schools amalgamated and the name was changed to St Marks CBC. In 1988 the school was closed down and sold by the Christian Brothers.
Saint Thomas Aquinas was a Catholic girls School founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1957, although it can trace it's history back to St. Peters founded in 1953 and Bedford Park founded in 1941 at 38 Wood Street Inglewood. In 1981, the Sacred Heart High School in Highgate (which also had a close relationship with CBC Highate) closed and the students transferred to Saint Thomas Aquinas in Inglewood. Saint Thomas Aquinas continued to operate until 1988 run by the Dominican Sisters.
St Marks CBC and Saint Thomas Aquinas schools have a long and close history. Often both were referred to as sister/brother schools and in combination, competed in the ACC Athletics since 1978. They shared social events, school camps and have continued to hold joint school reunions.
Chisholm Catholic College was established in 1989 as a result of the amalgamation of St Marks CBC and St Thomas Aquinas College. From 1989 to 2002, the College had two campuses. The senior students were taught at the original St Thomas Aquinas College site in Wood Street and the junior students were taught at the St Marks College site in Beaufort Street. In 2003 the College merged onto one site at Beaufort Street.
Although the class of 1982 graduated from both St Marks CBC and Saint Thomas Aquinas, officially we belong to the Chisholm Catholic College Alumni association. Chisholm Catholic College currently has over 1300 students from Years 7 to 12.
