Cary CERT course demonstrates what to do in the first 72 hours of a natural or man-made disaster.
Participants learn disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, medical care, fire extinguisher use, and disaster psychology.
Upon completion, participants are eligible to join any CERT organization nationwide, including Cary CERT.

Spend the first weekend of hurricane season learning how to take care of yourself and your neighbors during the first 72 hours of a disaster. In Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), participants will be educated about disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, medical care, fire extinguisher use, disaster psychology, and the CERT organization. Upon completion, participants are eligible to join any CERT organization nationwide, including Cary CERT, a group of about 100 active members. The three-day course is June 2-4 and held at Cary Fire Station 7, 6900 Carpenter Fire Station Road. Registration closes May 26; all participants must be 18 or older or between the ages of 14-17 with a participating adult. CERT is managed by FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security.
