Mentoring

PhD Dissertation Committee Membership

I am a member of Tarana Chauhan's dissertation committee who is a PhD candidate at the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. Her PhD advisor is Chris Barrett.

Tarana's research focuses on studying the effect of economic and non-economic factors on women's experience of intimate partner violence.

Structural Transformation of African (and Asian )  Agriculture and Rural Spaces (STAARS and STAAARS+)

The STAARS project is a collaborative venture between the African Development Bank, CGIAR Research PIM program, Partnership of Economic Policy (PEP), African Economic Research Consortium, the World Bank, and Cornell University.

The program matches African and African-based researchers, and recently Asia-based, with researchers and faculty members in the US.  The objective is to conduct policy-relevant research using LSMS-ISA data and other publicly available datasets, and to provide capacity building opportunities to African and Africa-based scholars.

More information can be found here.

I have had the fortune to be a mentor to two STAARS fellows and the first STAAARS+ team from Asia.  Below links to the profiles of fellows I have worked with:
