Welcome to my Web page.  This will give you a glimpse into my work
Painting has been a significant part of me...for most of my adult life.  It has introduced me to some of my best friends, encouraged me to go to interesting places to sketch, taught me to "see" and "appreciate" the world through a painter's perspective, and given me hundreds of hours of pleasure and entertainment.

I have explored oils, acrylics and have recently settled on watercolour as my medium of choice.  I just love the unpredictability as water, paint and paper meet.  I love how it paints itself if you let it.   It can be unforgiving and at the same time magical. I like painting landscapes, seascapes, buildings, flowers.

Thinking of learning to watercolour?  I am teaching a " BASIC" CLASS at The Old School House ( TOSH) in Qualicum Beach.     BEGINNER WATERCOLOUR classes will start at TOSH ( The Old School House) January 28 ( saturday mornings ) 9:30-12:30 x 6 weeks.  Taught by me... CarlaFlegel.com

You can sign up at TOSH or on their web site. http://www.theoldschoolhouse.org/ClassesOverview.html
So the morning classes are filled... returning students for another dose of ... wet in wet wild and crazy painting :-) ....
..... so we will run a class in the afternoon (1-4pm) same days.  This class covers the BASIC techniques of watercolour, texture techniques, wet in wet and we will be making Birthday and Valentine cards to practice the techniques.  First timers can purchase a BASIC palette, paper, water brushes, journal, sharpie, pencil ... all the stuff you need to get started ($40) to see if you LIKE watercolour!  Then once you know you do you can purchase what you like with some knowledge of the products.

This is the "basic kit" and you can complete the entire course using just these few supplies.  I will show you other supplies i use and you can choose what you would like to purchase if you want to continue with watercolour painting.

This is an example of a birthday card we will produce during the class

Simple valentines  for your family and true love!
This photo shows me enjoying a day at the Ladner Grand Prix.  We are given 3 hours to paint at a randomly selected place in the town.  Then the paintings are hung, judged and offered for sale.
