Parts

The costs for building a camper can add up quickly. The cargo trailer itself is not inexpensive. In certain parts of the country, you can find reasonably priced new cargo trailers. I probably would have gone with a new trailer if I had not found a used trailer in good condition (although the delivery cost to my state was around $1,000). The various camper parts can also get very expensive. Again I was lucky to find a guy on craigslist who parted out campers and had very reasonable prices. You might even consider purchasing an entire popup camper for parts, especially if you can find a damaged popup from auction or craigslist. Otherwise, a lot of the parts come from any hardware store or if you're like me you may have a lot of scrap and junk lying around that you can use. I tend to take a lot more time on some things than I should because I try to find ways to use stuff that I have. In the end, the total cost was a little higher than I hoped, but I think I could do it for less, if I did a few things more simply.
