Parc Mary Anne Phillips

Parc Mary Anne Phillips in the Baie du Fer à Cheval at the Chelsea dam is generally considered Cantley's most environmentally diverse and beautiful park. The approx. 8 acre greenspace has the potential of providing sports and active living enjoyment, a community celebration space, a biological interesting shoreline forest and a river aquatics experience.

Unfortunately closure of a pathway through the shoreline forest to the river currently limits use of the park to the sports and community areas. An environmental friendly solution is required. reference

The park's 4 primary recreational components (A,B,C and D) could even become part of a unique River Recreation Park by connecting with Parc Riverain (F). Such a park would celebrate the natural features of the river and shoreline and demonstrate Cantley's environmental ethic.

A = sports

B = community events

C = shoreline forest

D = river aquatics area

E = stream ecology (private property)

F = Parc Riverain shoreline forest

G = paddling and wind boat launch site (Hydro Quebec )

Much of the park was was used as agricultural land for over 100 years without shoreline destabilization. A 2017 update of the area's landslide map assessed the shoreline soil as a "medium to low risk" landslide property.
